Motorists have been urged to exercise extra caution while on the road following yet another accident at Timboroa along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, which claimed the life of one person.
Koibatek Sub-County Police Commander Joel Chepkwony said that the Saturday evening accident occurred after two trailers collided head-on.
"The driver of one trailer was driving downhill when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle moved to the lane of oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another trailer," said Chepkwony.
The driver of the trailer who was driving uphill died on the spot from the impact, which left the wreckage of the trailer cabin strewn all over the highway.
"First responders rescued one driver and rushed him to the hospital while the body of the deceased was moved to Eldama Ravine Hospital mortuary," said Chepkwony.
The accident left hundreds of motorists stranded following massive traffic extending for kilometres.
It is suspected that the slippery road at a time when rain was pounding the area may have contributed to the trailer driver losing control of the vehicle.
"We are urging all road users to be more careful during this period. There are many factors contributing to an accident, but if human error can be avoided, many accidents wouldn't happen," said Chepkwony.
