Ojwang Lusi produced a fine round of golf as he defeated a strong field of 67 players to lift the August Babies Monthly Mug at Nyanza Golf Club on Sunday.
Playing steady throughout the day, Ojwang carded a score of 69 net to claim his first-ever monthly mug title, edging out Cornila Obare, who finished runner-up with 70 net.
The victory was special for Ojwang, who revealed that he drew inspiration from his wife, Tabitha Akoth Ojwang.
Akoth has a history of success at Nyanza, having won several monthly mugs, including the prestigious Mug of Mugs last year.
“This is a very emotional win for me,” Ojwang said after lifting the trophy.
