The government has remained silent as parents of a doctor who died in the Amref plane crash cry for help to bury their son.
Doctor Charles Mugo, 38, died alongside five others after a light aircraft belonging to Amref crashed in a residential area in Mwihoko, Kiambu County on August 7, 2025.
Thirteen days later, the family are yet to bury their son. Grace Njoroge, Mugo’s mother, said they are waiting for a DNA test to be conducted at Kenya Medical Research Institute.
“We were told that they only found body parts and they needed to conduct a DNA test to establish which part belongs to whom and assemble them. We have been waiting to date but there is no progress,” she said.
She said no one from the Ministry of Health, national government or the county government of Nakuru had reached out to them.
Mugo and the other medical officers were heading to Somalia to rescue a child before the disaster. She said with no one to help, mourning has been difficult and despite planning all the funeral arrangements, they do not know when they will bury their son.
